Family Activities In Ayr

Visit Culzean Castle

This glorious 260ha estate was once the playground of David Kennedy, 10th Earl of Cassillis – a man who was keen to impress with his wealth and status. Opulent to the extreme, the park is planted with conifers and beech, sculpted around miles of sandy coastline dotted with caves, and finished off with a Swan Pond, an ice house, flamboyant formal gardens and fruit-filled glasshouses.

The castle itself is perched on the Ayrshire cliffs, incorporating everything the earl could wish for in his country home. It was designed by Robert Adam in the late 18th century and is filled to the turrets with treasures that tell the stories of the people who lived here.

Heads of ayr Farm Park

Heads of Ayr Farm Park is an award-winning tourist attraction situated in Ayr, on the A719 coastal route towards Dunure. Originally, it was a sheep farm owned by the Rankin family who continue to own and run the park today.

After the birth of their children, Craig and Edna Rankin acquired a llama and peacocks to join the farm as pets for their children, and the farm grew from there! The Farm Park first opened in May 1993 though it has vastly grown in size since then! When it first opened, Heads of Ayr Farm Park offered a playground, some chickens, peacocks, sheep, and the llama.

Today our visitors can come face-to-face with over 80 different species of animals, including some endangered species! Our playground is just one of many different attractions and activities on offer, as well as massive themed play areas, a huge indoor soft play, jumping pillows, quad bikes, train rides, and more. We have three different catering facilities on-site, an indoor animal barn, a gift shop, and we have also just opened a children’s nursery just next door!
